I love this chase. Every time the back barrels of that carb open up I get a tingle and my peen gets hard. My grandparents had a blue '73 LTD like that until 1990. It was just a 351w 2V so it didnt sound like this. They either used a 429 Thunderjet with a Rochester Quadrajet from the early 70s for the sound of the Ford or it was the sound of one of those E68 or E86 Dodges with a Thermoquad. There is nothing like the sound of a wide open spreadbore carb on a strong engine with a quiet exhaust. They dont make car chases like this anymore. I want to put a Qjet on my 6L LS engine just for the sound.

This is bar none one of the best, most underrated actions sequences ever commited to film. The edditing is absolutely mint.

As an automotive technician , I can honestly say that that Dodge would have never made it to the final scene. It would have broken down at the second snap of the throttle .
